The Administrator's Column
July 2007
July is the month for celebrating our country's heritage and freedom. Let the fireworks -- and our patriotism -- burst forth. Mrs. Eddy discovered Christian Science in this country. July is a good month to give some thought to why it was founded here.
Sponsored by The Men At The Willows, our ice cream social is the big event this month. Along with it, we will have an exhibition square dance performance. Join us at 3:30 p.m. on the patio between the Garden Room and dining room for a fun time. Be sure to bring your ice cream appetites.
Please remember that the emergency buttons in your villas are just for that purpose only. It is so wonderful that we have someone available 24/7 to answer your call. So let's only use these buttons when special help is needed.
The duck that seemed to think our swimming pool was his private country club has flown away. At least it seems so. We haven't seen him for a whole week, although someone reported he was spotted on Moulton asking directions to a better watering hole.
The Willows Foundation Board usually does not meet in June, but this year was an exception. They held a regular meeting on June 28th, but will not be meeting in July. I am so grateful for the dedication of our Board members who serve The Willows so selflessly.
I know you are grateful, too. Please feel free to reserve a table and invite them to dine with you. You'll enjoy getting to know them better, and they would love having the opportunity to visit with you. If you need a phone number to contact any one of them, please let me know.
Please note we are no longer collecting batteries in the office. The recycling place will not accept them from a non-profit organization. Only a resident can take them to the "household hazardous waste" place. Please see the notice on the bulletin board.
Watch for an exciting event coming August 17th.
Have a wonderful 4th of July holiday.
Sandy Toner
