The Administrator's Column
August 2008
What would summer at The Willows be without the ice cream social? We certainly don't want to find out! The "men of The Willows" are the best ice cream dippers you'll find anywhere. So, the ice cream social is scheduled for August 16th, Saturday, 2 to 5 p.m. There will be some fun things in addition to the many flavors of ice cream and toppings for which The Willows is known. We're planning to have John Brillhart on drums and Randy Woltz on piano. Phyllis Neale will play guitar for a sing-along. We'll have a few open houses for tours. We hope you'll plan on joining us for a fun time.
Here we are enjoying summer and ice cream and I'm going to talk about Christmas!
Can you believe it? If you have family planning to join you at the holiday season, be sure to book your guest house soon. We're already scheduling holiday visits.
You are all probably aware of the "red box" that sits at the dinner reservation table. That box is for a variety of contributions. We are always grateful for any donation. Please remember to put your donation in an envelope and earmark it for where you want it to be applied. Any cash put there that is not designated will go into the general fund for The Willows Foundation. Some of you have also requested a box for a donation for gasoline only. That box is in the office next to the postage meter. Many thanks to you for all your contributions.
Villa painting continues. We have one building left to do. Then the fellows will be painting the administration building and the garden room. Wouldn't you agree that the grounds and everything look beautiful? Everyone on the staff works so hard to keep The Willows, your home, lovely and well maintained.
This has been a great year so far. Wonderful people continue to join us. Income continues to exceed expenses for the year and the dining room income has been above expenses for the past three months. We are so grateful. I know you all are doing your part to support The Willows in many ways. Rex Hodges certainly was inspired and had great vision when he founded The Willows. We can be so grateful to him. As we strive to uphold the Mission Statement, we are continuing to support the "cause of Christian Science."
Have a wonderful summer,
Sandy
