The Administrator's Column
September 2008
The ice cream social was a fun event. The many flavors of ice-cream served up by the great men of The Willows, the wonderful music and entertainment, the surrey rides and open houses all added to the afternoon. Maybe we should do it again next year!
The tree trimmers have been working diligently to keep those big trees in shape and prevent branch breaking. Some of the trees have really become full and heavy this year. The workers do start early, often on weekends, and the equipment can be noisy. Also the roofers have completed the reroofing of the shop. They began very early, too. I don't always know the times of their arrival, hence I can't always give a warning, but just know and trust that the work going on here is to enhance and maintain the residents' homes and grounds.
The painters have started work on the administration building. The main building, in addition to the exterior of the garden room, are in need of refurbishing in order to beautify and preserve the wood and the stucco. As someone once said to me, "maintaining The Willows is like painting the Golden Gate Bridge; you get to one end and then you start over."
Did you know we have a record number of men living at The Willows? Isn't it great? Let's see, what else can we have them do besides the ice cream social?
The pool is being utilized more. I'm so grateful to see that and hear the splashing about outside my office window. The dressing/changing room and a few new lounges have added to the poolside patio.
I trust that your summer vacations, visit from family and all the things that make summer a special time are readying you for fall and quiet time. Enjoy every moment.
Sandy
